1990-1993 – a member of St.Petersburg (Leningrad) City Council 2005-2013. One of the opposition leaders in St.Petersburg. Organized the Dissenters’ marches and the marches of millions.

Co-founder of the United Civic Front (a member of the federal bureau) and the “Solidarnost” movement (a member of the federal bureau).

In early 2014 together with fellow activists, she founded the Maidan Solidarity Committee  since October 2014  transformed into Russian Anti-War Movement. Lives in Kyiv in exile

One year after the signature of the Minsk agreements



One year after the signature of the Minsk agreements between Russia and Ukraine and a very relative cease fire the political process of reconciliation is still blocked from the both sides. The purpose to see o separatist territories in a united Ukraine are still very uncertain.

In February, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, which oversees the implementation of the cease-fire, has expressed its concern about the further escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine.
